2023 Scholarship Application

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Inc. Sigma Pi Omega Chapter awards scholarships to deserving high school seniors each year. The award is given directly to the recipient upon evidence of enrollment in a college or university.  Please click on the green button below for the application. 

Scholarship Eligibility

 

All eligible applicants must: 

 

  1. Must be a Black/African-American student.   

  2. Must be a June 2023 graduating senior and accepted by an accredited college or university for Fall 2023.

  3. Must demonstrate a willingness to make a positive contribution within his or her community.

  4. Must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher.

  5. Must show verification of financial need (college counselor's signature needed on scholarship application for verification).

  6. Must submit an essay describing educational goals, career aspirations and information regarding financial need.

  7. Must submit official transcripts (unopened with seal).

  8. Must submit at least one letter of recommendation (teacher or counselor). 

  9. Must acknowledge receipt of funds if awarded a scholarship via email.

  10. Must maintain frequent contact with Sigma Pi Omega's Scholarship Chair (at least once per semester) if awarded a scholarship and wish to continue financial support.

 

Notification of winner will be June 1, 2023.

2019 Scholarship Recipient 

Our Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Sigma Pi Omega Chapter 2021 Scholarship recipients are Anaiya Abney and Amani Whittiker.  Anaiya is currently attending University of Southern California and Amani is attending Howard University.  We are so proud to award this year's scholarships to such deserving young ladies.

Our Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Sigma Pi Omega Chapter 2019 Scholarship recipient is Janilka Nettes-Salazar who is currently attending California State University, Long Beach.  We are so proud to award this year's scholarship to such a deserving future woman in the STEM field.
